PetroChina Sichuan Petrochemical Co., Ltd. was founded in July 2007, jointly invested by PetroChina Company Limited and Chengdu Industrial Investment Group. Located in Pengzhou, Chengdu, Sichuan Province, it is the first large-scale refining and chemical integration enterprise in Southwest China, and also the only ten-million-ton-level refining & chemical complex of PetroChina within the Yangtze River Economic Belt. The plant achieved successful startup in 2014, with a total investment of 37.5 billion RMB, covering a core production zone of about 4 square kilometers. Its core design capacity stands at 10 million tons per year for crude oil refining and 800,000 tons per year for ethylene, supported by 19 main production units plus complete utility, storage, transportation and environmental protection facilities.
The company adopts full-hydrogenation process for refinery section and advanced ethylene cracking technology for chemical units, delivering a broad portfolio of refined oil and petrochemical products. Its product lineup includes gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, fuel cell hydrogen, aromatic hydrocarbons, polyethylene, polypropylene, ethylene glycol, n-butanol, 2-ethylhexanol, polybutadiene rubber and other chemical raw materials. These products primarily serve the Southwest China market and are exported to global clients. It is a core supplier of aviation kerosene for Sichuan airports, with its bonded jet fuel export accounting for over 30% of PetroChina’s total jet fuel export volume. Since commissioning, the firm has processed more than 100 million tons of crude oil, producing over 60 million tons of refined oil products and 34 million tons of chemical products, most of which are consumed locally within Southwest China.
As the industrial chain leader of new chemical materials in Chengdu, Sichuan PetroChina builds a clustered industrial ecosystem through on-site supply and adjacent conversion, driving the development of dozens of downstream manufacturers in the industrial park. The enterprise has passed the national intelligent manufacturing maturity assessment at Level 4, ranking among the top domestic refining and chemical plants in intelligent transformation. It has obtained multiple honors including PetroChina Green Enterprise and Safe Enterprise, Chengdu Top 100 Manufacturing Enterprises and Top Taxpayer awards.
The company strictly controls quality, HSE and carbon emission throughout production. It continues to push forward high-end, intelligent and green transformation, expanding output of new materials and high-value chemicals to fill the gaps in Southwest China’s new material industry.
